Moncton Area 2 Meter Sunday Night Net

Net Controller:  VE9CX - Hinson

The Moncton Area 2 Meter Sunday Night Net meets every Sunday night at 9:00 pm local time on repeater VE1MTN, frequency 147.090, positive offset.  The net is not affiliated with any club and is open to all who wish to check in. Announcements affecting the amateur community in the listening area are welcome and are usually made at the opening of the net and can be made again later on in the net.

This net has been running for many years.  I have personally been running it since Feb. 16, 1997, so the 10 year anniversary is coming up.  I have been greatly assisted by VE9WN - Weldon, who fills in when I am away and he does a fine job.  Others are also ready to help when the need arises  -  VE9BMA - Bob, and VE9MA - Warren.

Some of the previous controllers in past years : VE9MEL - Mel (Sk), VE9WW - Bill, VE1NF - Wayne, VE1PI - Jack (SK).

The original net used the VE1RPT repeater but the net was moved to the VE1MTN repeater on Feb. 16, 1998. This repeater gives great coverage.  On a normal night I will have stations check in from : Moncton, Newcastle, Prince Edward Island, Sussex, Shediac and Amherst and on some occasions from Saint John, Windsor NS, Fredericton and the west coast of Newfoundland.  This is all through one repeater and not through the linking system.

Numbers for 2006:    Total checkins: 1280    Average per net: 24     High: 30    Low: 9

This is a good net for newly licensed hams to check into and get to know the calls and names of those who use the local repeaters.
