Classes are being held at the clubhouse of the Tri-County Amateur Radio Club in Centennial Park, Moncton.

Enter Centennial Park at the intersection of Milner Blvd. and St. George Blvd. As you drive into Centennial Park, do not turn left into the large parking lot. Keep going straight. You will see a large green building on your right. The clubhouse is located on the second floor.

There is no charge for the Basic Ham Radio Course. However, students should have in their possession the Seventh Edition of the RAC Study Guide for the Basic Exam, which can be purchased on line at: www.rac.ca . The cost of purchase is $50.00 plus Tax & shipping. There are also special packages which are optional and which include the RAC Operating Manual and a six-month trial membership in RAC.

If a student has already purchased the Sixth Edition of the RAC Study Guide, instead of the Seventh Edition, it is OK.

If a student has a computer with access to the internet, it is strongly recommended that he downloads the icp.exe (exam generator) software from Industry Canada for self-studies and review.

Available at: http://www.strategis.ic.gc.ca/epic/internet/insmt-gst.nsf/en/h_sf05378e.html .

Students have the option to self-study at: www.hamstudy.com. Students also have the option to self-study at: www.hamtestonline.com . A 2-year subscription costs $49.95 US and gives you access to both the Canadian Basic and the Canadian Advanced studies as well as to the US studies.

Membership in a local Ham Radio Club is not mandatory but students are strongly urged to join at least one local club. Club gatherings are good venues where new Hams can find help and assistance. Many experienced Hams in local clubs are ready and willing to act as mentors to new Hams.
